A Young Girl’s Adventure of Braving Through Doubt and Denial… Metroidvania “Sophie: Starlight Whispers” Officially Announced

SHANGHAI – July 13, 2023 – Astrolabe Games is excited to announce “Sophie: Starlight Whispers”, a Metroidvania adventure game developed by Brazilian studio Youth Gaming.

Adopting the Metroidvania genre, Sophie: Starlight Whispers features a massive, handcrafted map with sophisticated level designs, and a rich-in-design combat system. With a narrative-focus and RPG elements blended in, the game also tells an intriguing tale of Sophie – a long-hair teenage girl who possesses some seemingly usual power. Players will follow Sophie on her journey into the mysterious Kingdom of Sharam and experience an immersive adventure in a fantasy world.

Introduction

Sophie: Starlight Whispers is an adventure Metroidvania game that presents pixel art graphics and RPG characteristics driven by a deep, immersive, dramatic, and philosophical narrative. The game tells the tale of Sophie, the main character: a strong-minded girl that ventures through the kingdom of Sharam, motivated by silhouettes she believes to be hallucinations.

Amongst her adventures, the people of Sharam are attacked by shadowy creatures that cause mysterious and incurable diseases. Sophie finds out that, for some reason, she’s not affected by these creatures and is the only one that can defeat the shadows. Due to her immunity, the kingdom grows suspicious of her and believes that all the traumatic events are her fault. Sophie will look for answers behind this mystery, for her immunity and her supposed hallucinations. All while developing herself and her magic.

The gameplay is paired with very detailed landscapes, emotional moments, and real-time battles to create an immersive and fun experience. The player is free to decide what to do: explore Sharam, get to know characters, fight to get stronger, or follow along with the main story.

The game features many environments and unique characters, collectible items, and varying challenging puzzles. The very metaphorical narrative creates an emotional and mysterious atmosphere that is surrounded by possibilities and interpretations.
